↑In the afternoon, we prepared for the Heilala Festival, parade. We decorated the JICA car and…

  午後、ヘイララフェスティバル（パレード）の準備を始めました。ＪＩＣＡの車の飾りつけをして・・・

 

↑practiced dance. We are supposed to parade while dancing. The aerobics teacher Aya taught the dances to us properly.

  ダンスを練習しました。ダンスをしながら行進する予定です。エアロビの先生Ayaちゃんが適切な指導をしてくれました。

 

↑Yumi, who is collecting animals’ bone, was fixing this portable shrine until late last night. Thank you for your trouble.

 動物の骨を集めているBonmasさんが昨夜遅くまで神輿を直してくれていました。ありがとうございます。

30th Jul. Internet

「Internet」

７月３０日　インターネットだぞ

 

↑Around 8:30 we left our accommodation. We took this airplane DC-3 the same as on the way to Ha’apai. During World War Ⅱ, there were a lot of DC-3 but now, this is the only one which is working as a passenger plane, in short it’s very rare.

  ８時半頃、宿を出ました。行きと同じくDC-３に乗りました。第二次世界大戦中にはたくさんありましたが、今は旅客機として飛んでいるのはここだけだです。つまりめちゃくちゃ珍しいのです。

 

 

↑Ha’apai girls (Kimika, Miyuki and Sachiko) and the soroban girl in Vava’u, Manami, came to the airport to see us off. Thank you very much. We had a very good time in Ha’apai.

  ハアパイガールズのKimikaさん、Miyukiさん、Sacchanと、ババウのそろばんガールManamiさんも見送りに来てくれました。ありがとうございます。良いハアパイ滞在でした。

 

 

↑Kimika’s dog Onigiri (Rice Ball or Nigirimeshi ) also came to the airport on foot, but he was very tired so was sleeping. Anyway, thank you for coming.

 Kimikaさんの犬おにぎり（ライスボールまたはにぎり飯）君も空港に歩いて来てくれましたが、疲れたので寝ていました。とにかく来てくれてありがとうございます。

 

 

↑Ha’apai is a very beautiful island and has a lot of outer islands.

  ハアパイはとてもキレイな島です。たくさんのハアパイの離島があります。

 

↑After I came back to Tongatapu, immediately I went to the JICA dormitory to prepare for the Heilala Festival. We are supposed to march with this portable shrine the day after tomorrow.

  トンガタプに帰ってきてから、直ちにJICAドミトリーへ行きヘイララフェスティバルの準備をしました。明後日この神輿をかついで行進することになっています。

 

 

↑After a long time away, I went to the restaurant, Gold Coast. In Tonga, Chinese food is my favorite.

  久しぶりに黄金海岸という名の中華へ行きました。中華料理はトンガでは一番口に合います。

 

 

↑By the way, suddenly I got the Internet in my house, because my landlord connected to the Internet and it is wireless so I can use it for free. At last I can update my blog frequently, and my life becomes convenient though I have less than 2 months left.

  ところで、突然家でインターネットが使えるようになりました。大家さんが契約して、無線だからタダで使わせてもらえるのです。やっとブログを頻繁に更新できるようになりました。そして２ヶ月未満しか残っていませんが、生活が便利になりました。

29th Jul. One More Matafonua

「One More Matafonua」

７月２９日　またMatafonuaだぞ

↑In the morning, we held an evaluation meeting with the officers. This time (like this meeting) we had a lot of things which we couldn’t do last time.

 We were mostly satisfied with the competition, but we will change a little bit for the next competition in Vava’u (especially how to fill the blanks, students name, No, school’s name…and so on).

  朝、大会の反省会をオフィサー達と行いました。今回はこの反省会のように、前回できなかったことをたくさんできました。

　概ね今大会に満足しておりますが、次回のババウ大会に向けて少し変更します。特にどのように問題用紙に子どもの名前・No.・学校を書かせるかなどです。

 

↑At 10:45, we visited Tupou’s class in GPS Pangai. She showed us her mathematics and abacus class. Her class is well-organized.

  １０時４５分にTupou先生を訪れ、Pangai小学校のTupouクラス（そろばん・算数）を見学しました。よく整っていました。

 

↑Ha’apai kids are just as vigorous as before.

 ハアパイの子ども達は以前と変わらず元気です。

↑At lunch, we visited Matafonua. Here is the most beautiful place of the main 2 islands I think.

  Matafonuaで昼食を食べました。ここは２つのメインアイランドで一番キレイだと思います。

 

↑Soroban girls drank smoothie,

  そろばんガールズはスムージーを飲み・・・

↑ate three big pizzas,

  大きなピザを３枚食べ・・・

 

↑and dessert, they are very good at eating.

  そして、デザートを食べました。そろばんガールズはとても食べるのが得意です。

↑When we left, we took a lot of photos of Hirono playing with a swing.

  帰り際、皆でHironoさんがブランコで遊んでいる写真を撮りました。

 

↑Hirono was very fascinating so we were concentrating on taking photos, and when we came back to our accommodation, I found that I left my backpack at the restaurant.

 I went there one more time by half aggressive walk so it took 35 minutes to get there. If I had walked aggressively, I could have gotten there in less than 30 minutes.

 By the way, I left my backpack, Kimika left her documents in my room and Hirono left her mobile phone in Kimika’s house, maybe all because Hirono’s fascinating photos.

  Hironoさんがめちゃくちゃ魅力的だったので、我々は写真を撮るのに集中しておりました。そして宿に戻った時、かばんをレストランに忘れてきたことに気が付きました。

　半分攻撃的歩きで、３５分かけてもう一度Matafonuaへ行きました。もし攻撃的に歩いたなら、３０分以内で行けたはずなのですが・・・。

　ところで、Torojiro先生はかばんを忘れました。KimikaさんはTorojiro部屋へ書類を忘れました。HironoさんはKimikaさんの家へ携帯電話を忘れました。多分Hironoさんの魅力的な写真のせいでしょう。

 

↑On the way back to our accommodation, I visited Koichi’s house but no one was there, because he had gone back to Japan last June. Instead I could meet Juleigh who lives next to Koichi’s house. This day last year, we were in New Zealand.

 I received Melissa’s clothes and I will pass it to her next week. We are close friends.

  帰り道にKouちゃんの家を訪ねました。でも誰もいませんでした。彼は日本に帰ったからです。代わりに隣に住んでいるJuleighさんに会えました。去年の今日はニュージーランドにいました。

　Melissa先生の服を受け取りました。来週渡します。皆仲良しです。

７月２８日　ハアパイ大会だぞ

↑Ha’apai abacus competition was held today.

  ハアパイそろばん大会が開かれました。

↑About 250 students came together from 2 Ha’apai main islands.

  約２５０人の子ども達が２つの主要な島からやってきました。

↑Especially, the marking and list up part went very smoothly for the managers.

  特に採点、リストアップは運営側としてとてもスムーズでした。

 

 

↑Compared with the competition last year, it was a very good competition, maybe because Ha’apai teachers and officers are very good and have the experience to run the competition. In addition 5 volunteers and Sefo and Miwa came to Ha’apai.

  去年の大会に比べてとてもよい大会となりました。多分、ハアパイの先生達と、オフィサーは優秀なのと、運営経験があること、加えて今年は５人のボランティアとSefoさん、Miwaさんがハアパイに来たお陰でしょう。

↑When we put the hall in order, Sefo and Tupou, who is the charismatic teacher in Ha’apai, were sitting side by side 5 times.

  片付けしている時に、Sefoさんとハアパイのカリスマ教師Tupouさんは５回隣の席に座りました。

 

 

↑We had dinner at Mariner’s Café. The barbeque plate and beer tasted so delicious.

  ディナーをMariner’s Caféで食べました。バーベキュープレートとビールはとてもおいしかったです。
