５月１２日　封筒、修理、サーカス、メール、自転車

 

↑Ｉmade a lot of envelopes with the wrapping paper from A4 paper. This is for the Term 2 End Test. Before we distributed the Term 1 End Test, we prepared new envelopes for all of the schools. We are supposed to use these envelopes for a year. We can put the Term 2 End Test in the same envelopes for the schools which submitted the Term 1 End Test. On the other hand, we put it in the ugly handmade envelopes for the schools which did not submit the previous test. They deserve it, because they did not return the envelopes.

  A４ペーパーの包装紙でたくさんの封筒を作りました。これは２学期末テストの為です。１学期末テストを配る前、全ての学校の為に新しい封筒を準備しました。その封筒は１年間使う事になっています。１学期末テストを提出した学校には同じ封筒に２学期末テストを入れられます。一方前回テストを提出しなかった学校には醜い手作り封筒に入れる事になります。そりゃ常識ですよね。封筒を提出しなかったんだから・・・。

 

 

↑After that, I prepared the abacus which is for the contestant. It has a button and when we push it the abacus shows zero thanks to the function. The parts are easy to break but I managed to fix it with a screwdriver, lubricating oil and so on. The owner asked me to replace it with the new one right away but I refused, because the equipment (a baseball glove, bat, shoes for all sports, a racket etc ) is part of our body, or life, so we should try to fix it. Though it’s just a Japanese way of thinking or my opinion, as long as they use the materials carelessly, they can never improve their skill.

  その後、競技者用そろばんを修理しました。ボタンがついていて、それを押したらその機能でそろばんが０状態に戻ります。それは壊れやすいパーツですが、ドライバーや潤滑スプレーを使って何とか直しました。持ち主はすぐに新しい物と交換してくれと言いましたが断りました。何故なら野球のグローブやバット、その他スポーツのシューズ、ラケット何でもそうですが、道具は体の一部（または命）であり、我々は治そうと努力すべきです。これは日本人の考え方、または個人的な意見かも知れませんが、道具を乱暴に扱っている限り、上達は有り得ないでしょう。

 

 

↑Around 6 o’clock, I moved to the JICA dormitory to use the Internet. Suddenly the Internet in CDU stopped. On the way, I saw the big tent. Yes, this is “The Magic Circus of Samoa” which will start tomorrow. I’m going to there tomorrow with my friends. I can’t wait!

  ６時頃、インターネットをやりにJICAドミトリーに行きました。突然CDUのインターネットが止まったのです。途中、大きなテントを見ました。ハイ、明日から始まる「The Magic Circus of Samoa」です。友達とそこへ行く予定です。待ち遠しいです。

 

 

↑I sent a lot of e-mails. I have many sorts of jobs recently- for example: TIOE, Term End Test, Arrangement for the Japanese abacus camp, Arrangement of the volunteer meeting, Preparation for the next abacus competitions and so on. I will be busy again.

  たくさんのメールを送りました。最近たくさんの種類の仕事があります。教員養成学校、タームエンドテスト、日本そろばんキャンプの調整、隊員総会の調整、次のそろばん大会の準備などなど。また忙しくなりそうです。

 

↑By chance, I met 22-2 volunteers. Although two of the four belong to Ha’apai, they came together today, because Katsuya and Yumi are Tongatapu volunteers then Kimika came back to Tongatapu the day before yesterday and Miyuki came back from Japan yesterday.

 They invited me to their dinner but unfortunately I cannot join them, because they planned to go to the Bill Fish restaurant. I am scared of that restaurant.

 By the way, the description doesn’t have a relation to today’s contents, the bicycle doesn’t become Kimika. On the other hand, Miyuki looks nice with her bicycle- maybe because she is a Hokkaido resident.

  たまたま２２年度２隊のメンバーに会いました。４人中２人はハアパイボランティアですが、今日全員集まったようです。KacchanとBonmasさんはトンガタプですし、Kimikaさんは一昨日トンガタプに戻ってきて、Miyukiさんは昨日日本から帰ってきたからです。

　夕食に誘われましたが、残念ながら参加できませんでした。何故なら、ビルフィッシュに行く事になっていて、Torojiro先生はそこが怖いからです。

ところで、今日の内容とは全然関係ありませんが、Kimikaさんは自転車が似合いません。一方Miyukiさんはそこそこ似合っております。多分彼女は北海道民だからでしょう。
