９月２１日　トンガの家族・Pea小学校・山ネコ・送別会だぞ

↑Before I went to CDU, I took a photo with my landlords. I don’t want to part from them, but I have to go back to Japan tomorrow. They are always kind to me.

  CDUに行く前に、大家さん達と写真を撮りました。お別れしたくないのですが、明日日本へ帰らなければなりません。彼らはいつも親切です。

 

↑I visited GPS Pea with Hiko, Kimika and Manami. I called on Aloisia and observed her abacus class. The class was excellent as usual.

 Pea小学校へHikoさん、Kimikaさん、Manamiさんと行き、Aloisia先生を訪ね、授業を見ました。その授業はいつも通り素晴らしかったです。

 

↑She was the first teacher whom I made friend with in Ha’apai in 2009. Two years has passed… Thank you for your help over the last two years. Please continue your great abacus class.

  彼女はハアパイで初めに知り合いになった先生でした。2年間が過ぎました。2年間お世話になりました。あなたの素晴らしいそろばん授業をこれからも続けてください。

 

↑After I came back to CDU, I gave No.328 YAMANEKO to Talahiva. We were the members of Niuafo’ou Island.

  CDUに帰ってきてから、山ネコNo.３２８をTalahivaさんにあげました。我々はニウアフォオウ島のメンバーでした。

 

↑Following that, I gave No.329 YAMANEKO to Uini who was also one of Niuafo’ou members.

  その後、山ネコNo.３２９をUiniさんにあげました。彼女もまたニウアフォオウのメンバーです。

 

↑I left No.330 YAMANEKO in English room. This is Mele.

  山ネコNo.３３０を英語の部屋へ置きました。Meleさんです。

 

↑Around 2 o’clock, CDU boss Teresa and my farewell party was held. Teresa is going to France next week for 1 year. Good luck!

  2時頃、CDUのボスTeresaさんとTorojiro先生の送別会がありました。Teresaさんは来週から1年間フランスへ行きます。

 

↑Tears welled up in my eyes, so at first I couldn’t say anything. I enjoyed my Tongan work very much so it was hard for me to say good-bye to the CDU members. After a few minutes, I managed to tell my thanks. 

  涙が出てきて初めは何も言えませんでした。トンガで仕事を楽しんだので、CDUメンバーにさよならを言うのがとても辛かったです。数分後、何とか感謝の気持ちを伝えることができました。

↑After work, I was invited to another Korean restaurant. I didn’t know, there are two Korean restaurants in Nuku’alofa. Melissa arranged the farewell party for Farfum and me. Thank you so much.

  仕事の後、もう1つの韓国レストランに行きました。ヌクアロファに２つ韓国レストランがあるとは知りませんでした。Melissa先生がFarfumさんとTorojiro先生の為に送別会を企画してくれました。ありがとうございます。

  結婚式バージョンです。この山ネコ子はブーケを持っています。ところでFarfumさんは山ネコNo.２１３を持っていますが、来年３月に結婚します。それで彼の為にフィアンセ山ネコを作ったのです。その山ネコ達はウェディングケーキの上に乗ることになっています。結婚おめでとうございます。そして、あなた達と山ネコ達の写真を送ってくださいね。

↑I gave No.334 YAMANEKO to ‘Ofa. I often met her, you have one more year. Please enjoy Tongan life. She really wants to go to Niuafo’ou, take care! I skipped the number 333 for my counter part.

  山ネコNo.３３４を’Ofaさんにあげました。彼女のはよく会いました。あと1年あります。トンガ生活を楽しんでくださね。彼女はニウアフォオウ島へ行きたがっています。気をつけて・・・。No.３３３をカウンターパートの為に飛ばしました。

↑YAMANEKO made from seashells. That’s cute! Now, my character YAMANEKO is very famous among the Peace Corps volunteers thanks to Melissa’s advertising. I really appreciate your help.

  貝殻でできた山ネコでした。かわいいですね～。Melissa先生の広報活動のお陰で、今やマイキャラクターの山ネコはピースコープボランティアの中ですごく有名です。ありがとうございます。

↑Finally, we move to ‘Olini café and watched the rugby game, Tonga VS Japan. Although Japan lost the game, I think it was good for me because here is Tonga. Anyway we had a very good time.

  最後に’Oliniカフェへ行き、トンガ対日本のラグビー試合を見ました。日本は負けましたが、それでよかったと思います。なぜならここはトンガですから。

９月２０日　大使公邸の山ネコだぞ

↑At CDU, I finished almost all of my job as an abacus officer.

  CDUでほぼそろばんオフィサーとしての仕事を終えました。

 

↑Around noon, I went to Gold Coast restaurant with the soroban girls, Kimika and Manami. I came here great many times.

 お昼頃、そろばんガールズのKimikaさん、Manamiさんとゴールド・コーストに行きました。たくさんここに来ました。

 

↑In the afternoon, I asked Hiko to bring my staff to the JICA dormitory and weigh it on the scales. I am supposed to bring three 23kg boxes back to Japan.

  午後、Hikoさんにお願いして、荷物をJICAドミトリーに運んでもらい、重さを量りました。２３ｋｇの箱を３つ日本へ持ち帰ることにしています。

 

↑I have almost finished packing. This is the box which contains my extra bicycle.

  ほぼ荷造りが終わりました。これは速い自転車を入れている箱です。

 

↑Around 6 o’clock, we paid a courtesy call to the Japanese embassy and then, we were invited to the residence of the ambassador. The meal was pretty good and…

  ６時頃、大使館へ表敬訪問し、大使公邸に招かれました。食事はとても良かったです。そして・・・

↑I left No.327 YAMANEKO doll in the residence. The ambassador looked after us well. Particularly, I played tennis and went scuba diving a lot with the ambassador. Thank you for your kindness.

  山ネコNo.３２７を大使公邸に置いてきました。大使は我々の面倒をよく見てくださいました。特にTorojiro先生は大使とテニスやスキューバダイビングにいっぱい行きました。お世話になりました。

９月１９日　最終報告会・たくさんの山ネコだぞ

↑At CDU, I gave No.321 to Manami, who is the newest soroban girl. Of course it’s an abacus edition. Thank you for waiting. Manami, Kimika and Sefo were preparing the next competition in ‘Eua on 27 Oct. Yet I was cleaning my desk and room. I cannot join their work anymore. I felt lonely.

  CDUで一番新しいそろばんガールManamiさんに山ネコNo.３２１をあげました。もちろんそろばんバージョンです。お待たせしました。ManamiさんとKimikaさんとSefoさんは１０月２７日のエウアそろばん大会の準備をしていました。Torojiro先生は机や部屋の掃除をしていました。彼らの仕事にこれ以上関われません。寂しくなりました。

↑I gave Japanese fans to Tupou and Linda. I gave them YAMANEKO before.

 扇子をTupouさんとLindaさんにあげました。彼らには以前に山ネコをあげています。

  そして、No.３２４をMonkaさんにあげました。

↑Around noon, we visited Little Tokyo restaurant. It will be my last visit. Everything will be the last. Oh, sad…but I can eat a lot of Japanese food all I want next week.

  お昼頃、リトル東京へ行きました。これが最後になります。全てのものが最後になります。かなしいですね～。でも来週思う存分日本料理が食べられるのです。

↑Around 5 o’clock, I moved to the JICA office and we had a final report meeting. Ai and Torojiro took charge of the presenters.

  ５時頃、JICAオフィスへ行き、最終報告会をしました。AiちゃんとTorojiro先生が発表者でした。

↑A lot of volunteers came to listen to our presentation. I was not nervous because I like talking; I just tried not to exceed 30 minutes.

　Actually, my presentation was 31 or 32 minutes without questions. I might be too much talking but it can’t be helped because I had a great many things I wanted to tell. Anyway everyone was laughing so I was happy.

  たくさんのボランティアが発表を聞きに集まりました。緊張はしませんでした。話すのが好きだからです。ただ時間を３０分以上にならないように気をつけました。

　実際発表は質問無しで３１分か３２分でした。喋り過ぎたかも知れません。でも仕方ないのです。伝えたかったことがめちゃくちゃあったので。とにかく皆さん笑っていましたので、良かったです。

↑After my presentation, I gave No.325 and No.326 YAMANEKO dolls to Matazo and Akiko. Especially as a member of tennis club, they looked after me a lot. Thank you for your help.

  発表の後、山ネコNo.３２５とNo.３２６をYamagataさん夫婦にあげました。特にテニス部のメンバーとしてお世話になりました。ありがとうございました。

↑At night, I went to the restaurant “Sea View Lodge” with Kimika. In these days, I went to a lot of places which I have not visited, maybe because I am going back to Japan soon. It was luxurious restaurant.

  夜にKimikaさんとSea View Lodgeレストランに行きました。ここ数日、訪れたことがない場所にいっぱい行きました。多分もうすぐ日本に帰るからでしょう。ここは豪華なレストランでした。

18th Sep. Sefo’s House

９月１８日　Sefoさんの家だぞ

 

↑In the morinig, I tidied my room up for going back to Japan. In the evening, we were invited to Sefo’s house. This is Onigiri (Nigiri-meshi) who was Kimika’s dog until last month in Ha’apai. Because of the problem, he became Sefo’s dog. Now he looks very happy. He still has very short legs and has a big face.

  朝、帰国の為に部屋を片付け、夕方Sefoさんの家に招かれました。先月までハアパイでKimikaさんの犬だったおにぎり君（にぎりめし）です。ある問題の為に彼はSefoさんの犬になりましたが、今は幸せそうです。相変わらず足が短く顔が大きかったです。

 

↑Sefo, his mother Moli and his younger sister Mila provided us with a Tongan food and a Japanese food, rice. Everything was delicious.

 Sefoさんと母のMoliさん、姉のMilaさんがトンガ食と日本食（ごはん）を出してくれました。全ておいしかったです。

↑After eating, Sefo asked me to check a TIOE examination. It was Sunday (the day of rest) but he tries to work. He has a Japanese way of thinking.

 Anyway, we had a very good time. Thank you for inviting us. When you come to Japan next time, please visit my house.

  食べた後、Sefoさんが教員養成学校の試験問題をチェックして欲しいとお願いしてきました。今日は日曜日ですが、Sefoさんは働こうとしています。彼は日本人の考え方をもっています。

　とにかく楽しい時間でした。お招きいただきありがとうございました。次回日本に来た時、家を訪ねてきてください。
