「Going back to Japan」

１月３日　帰国だぞ

 

↑It was the last day for Akiko and Chie in Tonga. In the morning, we played with Neko-chan . She interested them a lot. Thank you Neko-chan.　

　She is catching her favorite food, dried seaweed.

　今日はAkikoさんとChiichikuさんにとってトンガで過ごす最後の日です。朝Nekoちゃんと遊びました。Nekoちゃんはたくさん楽しませてくれました。ありがとう。

↑We exchanged greetings with my landlord. Thank you for your kindness. Takai was sleeping at that time.

大家さんに挨拶をしました。親切にしてくれてありがとうございました。Takai君はその時寝ていました。

 

 

↑At 9:40 we arrived at the International airport by Tevita’s car.

　 ９時４０分に国際空港にTevitaさんの車で着きました。

 

↑We went upstairs to the observation deck. It’s for the people who see someone off. They were the people, who leave here, but it’s no problem because we have only a few sightseeing points in Tonga so it must have been one of good sightseeing points.

２階の展望台に行きました。ココは見送りの為の場所で、彼らはこれからトンガを離れる人（見送られる人）なのですが、トンガには観光地が少ないので、OKでしょう。ココも１つの良い観光場所になったに違いありません。

　 Tevitaさんありがとう。彼はたくさんの場所に連れて行ってくれました。

 

↑Thank you Vika. She looked after them while we were in Anana. We promised that next time they come to Tonga; they will stay for one month.

Vikaさんありがとう。彼女はAnanaにいる間、色々世話をしてくれました。今度来る時は１ヶ月間トンガに滞在する約束をしました。

 

 

↑At quarter to 11, they went in to the gate. Have a good trip to Japan.

１０時４５分にゲートの中に入りました。日本まで良い旅を！

 

↑By chance, 3 volunteers had gone back to Japan by the same airplane.

たまたま３人のボランティアも同じ飛行機で帰国します。

 

↑Thank you for coming. I wish you good luck in Japan, and come to Tonga again.

来てくれてありがとう。日本での健闘と、２度目のトンガ訪問を願っております。

 

↑I climbed on the fence to say good-bye. The sign says “Don’t climb the fence” in Tongan. What a bad teacher.

 By the way, the photo was taken by Taki, who has a Buddha face and is the same group volunteer.

　さよならを言うためにフェンスに上りました。この看板は「フェンスに上るな」と書かれております。なんと悪い先生でしょう・・・。

「The last sightseeing in Tonga」

１月２日　最後のトンガ観光だぞ

 

↑In the morning, we ate Oshiruko,sweet azuki (red-bean soup with pieces of rice cake). In Japan, we usually eat Oshiruko at the beginning of the year. I felt a Japanese New Year temporarily.

　朝、お汁粉を食べました。日本では正月にはお汁粉を食べます。一時的に日本の正月気分を味わえました。

 

 

↑At 10 o’clock, Tevita came to my house to bring us to his church in Anana village. We took a photo with his family. His parents, who are standing in the middle, have 6 kids including Tevita and Vika, who is a beautiful Tongan and working for the Japanese embassy. Amazingly, 6 kids is not so big in Tonga.

１０時にTevitaさんがAnana村にある彼の教会に連れて行ってくれる為、家に来ました。彼の家族と写真を撮りました。真ん中に立っている両親は６人の子どもを持っています。Tevitaさんとトンガ美人で日本大使館勤務のVikaさんを含めてです。驚くべきことに６人兄弟というのはトンガではそれほど多くありません。

 

 

↑After the church, we were invited to a lunch party called kaipola, which is a very traditional Tongan party. Akiko and Chie sat in front, next to the secretary. They were so to speak special guests. We ate a lot, and had a very good time with Anana families.

教会の後、トンガの伝統的なパーティー「カイポウラ」に招かれました。AkikoさんとChiichikuさんは前の席（牧師さんの隣）に座りました。いわば特別ゲストでした。Ananaの家族達と良い時間が過ごせました。

 

↑At 2 o’clock, we visited Likualofa resort to enjoy snorkeling. After an hour, we moved to the beach, which is located next to Likualofa. Thanks to Tevita’s help, we enjoyed our snorkel luxuriously.

２時にシュノーケルを楽しむためLikualofaリゾートに行きました。１時間後、隣のビーチに移動しました。Tevitaさんのお陰で豪華なシュノーケルが出来ました。

　 たくさんの美しい魚がいました。

↑This is a Dusky Anemone fish, which is famous for the movie Finding Nimo.

これは映画ニモで有名なクマノミです。線の数が違いますが。

↑On the way back to my house, we visited one bakery. By chance one clerk talked to us in Japanese, I found that she is Tonga High School student, Lavinia, and is learning Japanese language at school.

家の帰り道、あるパン屋さんに寄りました。たまたま店員さんが日本語で話しかけてきました。彼女はトンガ高校の生徒Laviniaさんで、学校で日本語を習っています。

 

 

↑At night, we called on Atsuhiko’s house, which is very close to my house. At Hideaway, ‘Eua’s accommodation, we met him and he asked me to come to his house, if we have time.

 We ate spaghetti, talked a lot, and drank beers, vodka and a soft drink. Thank you for inviting us.

夜、近所のTonoさんの家に行きました。エウアのHideawayで会い、時間があったら遊びにおいでと言ってくれていました。

　スパゲッティーを食べて、たくさん話して、ビール、ウォッカ、ジュースを飲みました。お招きいただきありがとうございます。

 

On the way back to my house, we found the Southern Cross. It was 11 o’clock PM. Now it’s hard for us to find it, because it starts to rise up at late this season, but by chance we were outside late, and the east direction was fine. They were pleased.

帰り道で南十字星を見つけました。この時期、遅い時間に昇ってくるので見つけるのが難しいのです。でもたまたま遅い時間に外にいて、東の方角の状態が良かったので見つけられました。喜んでおりました。

↑We were supposed to do fireworks with the Hideaway owners, but they were sleeping, so we did it at 12:30 with Sana, who is one of the Hideaway staff.

　 何とか間に合いました。１０分で着いたのは新記録だと言っておりました。

↑There is not so many fish, but we were satisfied with it, because thanks to the good weather every day, we achieved our goal completely by the end of yesterday. Today was a spare day.

そんなにたくさんの魚はいませんでしたが、満足でした。何故なら好天に恵まれ、昨日までに完璧に目的を達成したからです。今日は予備日です。

　AkikoさんとChiichikuさんが珍しい魚を見つけました。何かわかりますか？

 

↑At 3:40, we visited Pesi’s house and received coconut juice. On the way to the airport, we drank it.

　３時４０分にPesi先生の家に行き、椰子の実ジュースをもらいました。空港への道中で飲みました。

↑On the way back to Tongatapu, Chie could sit on the copilot seat. Congratulations!

　トンガタプへの帰り道、Chiichikuさんがパイロットの隣に座れました。おめでとう！

 

↑Paea came to the airport to pick us up. When he dropped us at my house, we provided him with some Japanese food. Akiko and Chie made white thick noodles (Udon). I made my special Mabo-tofu. I added 3 whole bulbs of garlic to it. Paea said that it was delicious and Torojiro had better add more garlic. I really think so.

　Paea君が空港に迎えに来てくれました。家に降ろしてくれた時、日本食をご馳走しました。AkikoさんとChiichikuさんがうどんを、Torojiro先生が特製麻婆豆腐を作りました。ニンニクを丸々３個入れました。Paea君は、美味しいと言ってくれ、もっとニンニクを入れた方がいいとも言いました。まさしくその通りだと思います。

 

↑By the way, we left Neko-chan for 3 days with a lot of food, but she was no problem because she had become wild.

　ところで、Nekoちゃんを３日間、放ったらかしでしたが、問題無しでした。何故ならNekoちゃんは野生化したので。
